The
Vietnam Institute of Science and Technology and the Ho Chi Minh Youth
Union Central Committee on Monday presented awards to four outstanding
scientific works of four groups of young scientists.
A
council of prestigious scientists chose the four winning works from 85
works belonging to IT, mechanics-equipment, electronics, materials,
chemistry and the environment, health and biology sectors.
Professor,
Academician Nguyen Van Hieu, Vice Chairman of the jury, said the four
winning works show young scientists’ creativeness and hard work. All
four works have been effectively applied in daily life.
Based on the work named “Researching chemical elements, biological active elements and application of white holothurian in Vietnam’s sea”, researchers from the Chemistry Institute of Natural Compounds have marketed Hasamin capsules.
The
“Treating waste water from wood boiling process for wood processing
firms in Binh Dinh province” work by experts of the Binh Dinh Analysis
and Testing Centre is the basis for manufacturing a low-cost waste
water treatment equipment.
Scientists
from the Institute for Material Sciences were honoured for their work,
“Researching technology to manufacture carbon nano pipe and some
applications”.
A scientist from the HCM City Health University
was awarded for his work titled “Using Nested PCR-RFLP technology to
define anti-Lamivudine and Basal Core Promoter of Hepatitis B virus”.
The
Youth Sci-tech Award was the initiative of Prof. Academician Nguyen Van
Hieu in 1991. It is granted annually to scientists under 40 years old.
The
Vietnam Institute of Science and Technology and the Ho Chi Minh Youth
Union Central Committee pledged to help young, talented scientists who
win this award to work at one of the 26 research institutes under the
Vietnam Institute of Science and Technology and to perfect their
research works.
